MetCom is a regional public safety service agency and provides 911 Public Safety Dispatching, MetCom's service area includes Parker, Arapahoe County, Douglas County, Greenwood Village, Lone Tree, Highlands Ranch, Cherry Hills, and Castle Pines.
First established on January 19, 2006, MetCom was created to provide a fire and EMS based multi agency dispatch center to service metro-area public safety agencies. By utilizing the the latest communications technologies available, MetCom is able to decrease dispatch times which ultimately get help to the public faster.
MetCom is designed to meet several important objectives. One of the goals of MetCom is to dispatch the closest most appropriate units to the emergency scene. By achieving this goal, damage to property and life safety is decreased and faster patient care is given with more positive outcomes.
Firefighter safety is increased through a decrease in non-essential radio traffic and highly trained dispatchers that give greater attention to each emergency call.
Overall, MetCom improves service to the citizens by ensuring that they receive the correct information and that they dispatch the correct resources needed for any emergency.
