Metropolitan Area Communications Center (MetCom) teaches 911 skills to kindergarten through 2nd graders in the South Metro Fire District. Unwarranted 911 calls to your local dispatch center can delay a Fire Truck or Ambulance response to a true emergency situation. Statistics show that most unwarranted 911 calls are made by children who don't know or understand the basics of 911.
The following information is meant to teach 911 basics to young children with help and reinforcement from parents. Our goal is to reduce the number of unwarranted 911 calls and educate children in The South Metro Fire District.
Basic tips for children and the use of 911 can be downloaded and printed here...
